How to Proceed with A-level subjects .

Edexcel A-Level

Hi, I am an A-level student  and in this blog I am going to tell you how to proceed with A-level subjects. I am going to give you full and final resource on A-level (Physics and Chemistry).

I have  found Internet very useful for studying these subjects but it would take a very ample of time to find out the proper resource and get used with it cause there are lot of site where you will get information but many of them may not be in the A-level syllabus..Beside there are plenty of books available in the market but you wont get time to read all of them.
So to save your time i will give all the links and site where you will get full and complete resource and also the books that you must read for A-level success.

You dont have to look for any other site if you follow my instruction properly and cautiously.

                                                                Physics

Edexcel A-level has 6 physics units :. Unit1 , Unit2 , Unit 6b, Unit 4, Unit 5, Unit 8b
Click on the link to get the syallubus : Syllabus
Unit 1 (6PH01)

Edexcel Mechanics 1
Edexcel Mecahnics 2

(Dont get scared by seeing so many books. You dont have to read the whole book, I will tell you the page number and exercise you need to read )

I will proceed according to your syllabus. So your first chapter is Mechanics

Mechanics

Use Advanced Physics to get started.
Read page : 6-25 and then 32-59

Energy and Power : 60 -67

Once you complete your chapter , go through the question at the end of each chapter because you might get some of them in your exam paper.

But reading this book is not enough so now you need to practice lot of maths from this book : Edexcel Mechanics 1

Open Mechanics 1 book : do the exercise 1,2 & 3
(I know it is too much, but you need to do all these otherwise you will find difficulty in solving Exam Paper. But once you get used to with it you wont find it tough anymore, cause these are very simple)

Edexcel Mecahnics 2
Once you complete your Mechanics 1 task, you will still be left with one chapter undone, and that is projectile and no other book is good at explaining this chapter except Mechanics 2.

Open Mechanics 2 book : do exercise 1.( if you are very good in maths then you must do the whole chapter, otherwise just simply go through the basic and do the simple sum and no need to do sum which requires the knowldge of calculus)

Now you are done with Mechanics Completely.

You just now need to go through the Main book of edexcel which is : Edexcel AS Physics Student Book

Read page: 8 -48 and do all the exercise.

The last and final part of mechanics is to read experiment and do experiment as written in your syllabus.
You also need to do some practical work as mentioned. This is will be examined in your Physics unit 6b.

If you want the list of experiment, you can get in the syllabus or click on this link :  Syllabus.
The list are written on page : 19-20

For your convenience i am giving you the list :

List of Experiment from Mechanics :

Determine speed and acceleration, for example use light gates

Strobe photography or video camera to analyse motion

Find the centre of gravity of an irregular rod

Use an air track to investigate factors affecting acceleration

Measure g using, for example, light gates.
Estimate, and then measure, the weight of familiar objects

Use, for example, light gates to investigate the speed of a falling object

Estimate power output of electric motor

To learn the experiment you need to follow this book : ,Edexcel Physics for AS (Advanced Physics for Edexcel Series)
Please ensure you read all the examiner tip and the Review Questions in this book,

If you need any extra help with this experiment  you can click on this link and will get ready solution of the experiment :

By now you are done with the Mechanics. (Do now worry if it seems too much for you. The chapter just small and you just need to clear your concept to prepare for your examination.)

If you still have any doubt click on this link:  Khanacademy
Under the Physics tab you can get Full and Clear Lecture about your Problems.
Khanacademy has been awarded by Google and it is also refer by Bill Gates as the best site to learn.
